Computer Deployment Technician

Primary Purpose and Function
The Computer Deployment Technician aka Designated Deployment Engineer (DDE) is primarily responsible for receiving, configuring, and shipping workstations and devices from Xantrion’s HQ in Lafayette, CA. This includes checking in devices when they are received, checking out devices when they are shipped to client locations, and working with vendors to repair any damaged devices still under warranty. As well as helping with remote workstation set-ups, new hire tickets, and remote tickets when not assigned on-site work at HQ. They are responsible for maintaining an up-to-date inventory count of client devices in our storage. The position requires strong attention to detail, accurate documentation, tracking, clear communication, and monitoring to ensure timely deployments.
- Be physically present at Xantrion’s HQ in Lafayette, CA to keep track of inventory and deployments.
- Receive packages that arrive at Xantrion and properly sort and document them.
- Configure and troubleshoot workstations that arrive at Xantrion’s main office to have them in a ready state to be shipped out.
- Work with manufacturers and vendors to repair devices that are still under warranty. Ship devices and equipment from Xantrion’s main office to our various client locations, using UPS, FedEx, USPS, or any other approved shipping vendor.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory count of devices present in Xantrion’s storage.
- From Xantrion’s main office, work with end users remotely to transition them over to their new devices once they’ve been deployed.
- Ability to work a designated shift from Xantrion’s main office during business hours.
- Take service tickets from the Dispatch team.
- Update and schedule service tickets until issues have been resolved or further escalated.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
- 1 to 3 years of technical support (IT Service Desk, Helpdesk, Desktop) experience.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge & Experience Basic diagnostic and analytical skills.
- Experience using Windows 7, 10, 11, and macOS.
- Basic computer literacy across both hardware and software.
- Ability to be proactive, take direction, and establish ownership of issues through resolution.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
- High School diploma or equivalency required.
- Technical certifications are a plus.
- A computer hobbyist.
